LIMIT2020R008 includes a new standard for the assessment of railway wheels. The TB/T 3506 is a Chinese standard and its method is very similar to annex D of EN 13979 based on principle stress amplitudes. For highly loaded areas the TB requires a second assessment according to the modified Crossland criteria, which uses the amplitude of the second invariant of the stress deviator and the maximum hydrostatic stress to calculate an equivalent fatigue stress. In general the new method can be used for multiaxial stress states in base material assessments. The two criteria can be used independently, which means that pure Crossland assessments or assessments according to EN 13979 are possible. The code is accessible for all standard users.
